Seen in Kuwait 2010 and 2011
Did you know that Cormorants fly in formation?
I mean, not the loooong straight line you usually see.
Nope. V-formations. Seen them only once like that.

One in flight
And most of you remember my all time favorite, I guess ;-)

Wonderful shot of the cormorants flying in a V formation. All the shots are good but the formation flight is my favorite.
ReplyDeletenice shots! i love seeing cormorants!
ReplyDeleteI like your all-time favorite also.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos Nicole, especially the first one, lovely pastel shades.
ReplyDeleteYour fave with good reason. The angles of the silhouettes are wonderful. I've always had a special place in my heart for cormorants because of their role in a favorite book from my childhood, The Story About Ping, by Marjorie Flack. About a little duck on the Yangstzee River who got a spank on his back if he was the last duck onto his houseboat at night. A timeless story I used to read to my first graders to get them in off the playground :-) But the cormorants in the story broke my young heart for the rings around their necks that kept them from swallowing the fish they caught for their boatmaster :-(.
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone!

Haven't heard of that story, sounds a bit sad though.
Especially the rings part.
Ugh :-(
Poor fellows :/
